The Crown Casino in Melbourne played host to the Logies Awards last night and we tuned in to check out the frocks both fabulous and tragic and to find out who took out the prizes on Australian TV’s night of nights.
The Gowns
The logies aren’t exactly known for style but this year we found there was a lot more to love in the fashion stakes…
HITS
Packed to the Rafters Jessica Marais may not have taken home any awards but she certainly did looked ravishing in a white J’Aton dress that had see-through panelling. Her pretty up-do and delicate black clutch were understated and classy.
Megan Gale wore a stunningly elegant white Alex Perry gown. Her smoky eyes and top knot were an edgy but elegant choice. The super model’s ex Andy Lee hit the red carpet looking dapper with his partner Hamish Blake. The hilarious duo will be making their big move to New York within the next two months.
Following in on the white trend, Erin McNaught looked great in a streamlined Carla Zampatti long sleeved gown. Her red lips and killer turquoise heels really completed the look and we loved her carefree, wavy blonde hair. The perfect un-done look to top off a very formal gown.
Asher Keddie, star of Channel Ten’s Offspring took out the prize for Most Popular Actress and looked every bit the winner in the fashion stakes too. Wearing a J’Aton gown in black that seriously showed off her gorgeous curves and simple drop earrings, Keddie gushed about how happy she was to have won. We’re sure the airing of the super popular min-series Paper Giants didn’t hurt!
Zoe Ventoura, who recently left the cast of Packed to the Rafters, looked absolutely amazing in a gold sequined gown by Rachel Gilbert. The form-fitted gown was perfectly complemented by her flowing brown hair and easy make-up.
MISSES
Laura Dundovic’s leopard print gown was an example of how not to wear the print in our minds. Too much of the overwhelming print, too many skin-revealing panels and far too much fake tan made this look more trashy than chic.
Michelle Bridge’s, one of the super-trainers on The Biggest Loser, is obviously less comfortable on the red carpet than she is in the gym. Her gown, a rusty brown coloured mess, was unflattering and she didn’t seem at all comfortable in it. Her hair was far too tightly pulled back and the whole look was just a little harsh.
Katy Perry makes Fireworks
Katy Perry hit the red carpet in an emerald green dress with a life-sized print of Man Ray’s Le Violon d’Ingres adorning the front.
After an outfit change, Perry hit the stage wearing a plunging, floor-length red gown and opened the awards ceremony with a slow version of her hit single Firework.
