2011 Teen Choice Awards: The Kardashians, Blake Lively, Selena Gomez and more

By Chloe Schneider

You know an award ceremony that gives surfboards in place of trophies and has an electric blue carpet is going to be high on the fun factor. The Teen Choice Awards are just that, with categories ranging from the more traditional ‘Choice TV Show Drama’ all the way through the less traditional ‘Choice Twit’ and ‘Choice Vampire’. All the winners are based on public vote that took place online in the weeks leading up to the event.

The fun unfolded in LA’s Universal City Gibson Amphitheater with The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco acting as host. Read on for all the goss and gowns.

Kardashian Glam

It was a family affair for the Kardashian sisters who were all in attendance along with their half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Khloe’s husband Lamar Odom and his two kids. The family were all in attendance after being nominated in some of the reality show categories.

Although they didn’t take any surfboards home (they lost out to Jersey Shore in the reality category), they certainly made waves in the style stakes with Kim in an incredible feathered Givenchy dress, Kourtney wearing a strapless Blaque Label gown with a Chanel clutch and Khloe in an incredible animal print Roberto Cavalli dress.

The younger sisters looked beyond their years in glam ensembles. Kendall stepped it up in an eggplant Aurelio Costarella mini and YSL shoes while little sister Kylie wore BCBGeneration.

The whole family looked stunning but it has to be said, those Jenner girls are starting to outshine their older sisters!

Taylor Swift Sweeps Up

Country crooner Taylor Swift was one of the favourites of the night, scoring a total of six awards including the Ultimate Choice Award, Choice Music Breakup Song and the Choice Music Female Artist!

The ‘Back to December’ singer wore a flirty white halter dress with a jewellery waistland and some dazzling jewels from Neil Lane.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Named Choice Hotties

It just wouldn’t be a teen event without Justin Bieber! The heart throb took to the blue carpet in a pink shirt, leather vest, askewed bow tie and skinny pants. Naturally, he took out Choice Male Hottie, Choice Twit, Choice Music Male Artist and even Choice TV Villain (for his appearance on CSI).

Bieber’s girlfriend Selena Gomez cleaned up as well, taking home the Choice TV Actress Comedy, Choice Music Group, Choice Music Single, Choice Music Love Song and Choice Female Hottie.

We think Bieber and Gomez landing the Hottie prizes is a little like taking out Prom King and Queen but on a much larger scale. Maybe that explains their excessive public displays of affection; the only time the pair seemed to keep their hands off one another was when Selena Gomez and The Scene performed for the crowd!

We can hardly blame Bieber though, Gomez proved herself in the style stakes looking absolutely jaw dropping in a pale yellow Erin Fetherston dress and Brian Atwood heels.

The Big Screen

No surprises here! Twilight: Eclipse and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were the big winners of the night, pretty much cleaning up every category.

There were a few exceptions including Choice Movie Actress Romantic Comedy which went to Emma Stone for Easy A. The surprise winner looked gorgeous in a Dior dress, Lanvin shoes and Irene Neuwirth jewels. As well as taking home her own surfboard, she presented on to BFF Taylor Swift.

The Small Screen

The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl took it out in the small screen categories with gorgeous Blake Lively taking home a surfboard for Choice TV Actress Drama in a tangerine Gucci dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Her co-star Leighton Meester was also in attendance to see Gossip Girl take out the Choice TV Show Drama in a cute white Chloe dress and Brian Atwood boots.

That’s a wrap for the Teen Choice awards for another year, congrats to all the winners.
