The Annual Taste of Sydney Festival will return to the beautiful surrounds of Centennial Parklands from 8th – 11th March 2012, with visitors invited to dine from a tasting menu prepared by a selection of Sydney’s leading restaurants. Over 40 mouth-watering dishes will be on offer to indulge the senses, with award-winning wineries, artisan producers and boutique exhibitors completing the line up for this gastronomic party in the park.
Confirmed participating Taste of Sydney 2012 restaurants include: A Tavola, Charlie & Co, Efendy, Flying Fish, Four in Hand, L’etoile, Longrain Restaurant & Bar, Ormeggio at the Spit, Otto Ristorante, Saké Restaurant & Bar, Spiedo, The Cut Bar & Grill and The Montpellier Public House.
The latest of Sydney’s favourite chefs to announce his participation in the iconic food festival for 2012 is Justin North, with a unique spin on pop-up versions of his popular Sydney restaurants Quarter Twenty One and Charlie & Co. In a Taste of Sydney first, Justin North is bringing the Quarter Twenty One Cookery School to the festival, featuring a timetable of 30 minute cooking classes. Class topics include Bread Baking, Stocks & Sauces, Simply Entertaining, Serious Cooks, Pastry & Desserts and for all budding mini-chefs, Kids in the Kitchen. The classes cost just $20 to attend and will be available to book in advance via the Taste of Sydney website.
In addition to the cookery school classes, Quarter Twenty One will plate up three tasting menu dishes and showcase their boutique retail area with gourmet goodie bags, picnic hampers and a cellar door. Justin will also present his own take on the current food truck revolution, introducing a shipping container pop-up for Charlie & Co, with the old-school diner style space serving up signature ‘Dude Food’ (a great way to keep the boys busy…) including gourmet Wagyu burgers, hot dogs and quesadillas. Yum!
Make sure to book your festival tickets ahead of time to take advantage of the advanced booking discounts. Kids under 5 are free! For event, ticketing and session times information, visit: Taste of Sydney.
