The super-star wattage was blinding as the high profile stars of film and television arrived for all the glitz and glamour of the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Scene-stealers included a statuesque Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek and undoubtedly the best-dressed couple of the night, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
With the rain holding off and the limos pulling up, television personalities warmed up the red carpet for what one fan described as the ‘Ladies Super Bowl’, better known as the Golden Globe Awards.
Ricky Gervais, who is hosting the event for the third year in a row, was one of the first to arrive and assured audiences he isn’t “gunning to ruin anyone’s night”. “I thought they blew it out of proportion last year, really. I mean, you usually have to actually murder someone to get that many column inches, and I just told a few jokes. So, it’s going to be more of the same, different jokes obviously,” the comedian said.
Modern family’s Sofia Vergara looked stunning as she strutted down the red carpet and explained why she loves Vera Wang’s dresses, “Yeah, of course, because you know what—she sends me dresses that they zip and they close.”
George Clooney and girlfriend Stacy Keibler arrived as a flawless Hollywood couple and Clooney predicted the verdict on his performances at the ceremony, “I predict I will not win four. So I feel that I’m probably going to be a pretty big loser tonight. That’s my sense.”
Clooney and Keibler were unanimous in their plans for after the show, “Party! Yeah, just face-down drunk. This is always the most fun night of the year”
