7 Steps to Spring Clean Your Skin

Know the areas that may need addressing – is it irritated? Inflamed? Undernourished?  These seven essential steps designed to shake up your skin routine will ensure blooming radiance all season.

1. A Double Cleanse 

Speak to any skin expert and they’ll agree the secret to youthful skin is double cleansing. Think you don’t have time? Think again. Try a two-step approach to treat, soften and properly cleanse your skin daily and reap the rewards in as little as one week.

You’re using: Just one cleanser
Rescu. Recommends: Double cleansing
First cleanse: A hydrating cream or oil cleanser is your fresh solution to melt off makeup while replenishing moisture and preventing tightness. Tight skin is dehydrated skin.
Second Cleanse: A PH balanced foaming cleanser will remove impurities leaving the skin balanced, clarified and refreshed.

Time saving tip: Do both in your morning shower

2. Tone it up

Often forgotten, this essential step will not only remove any last traces of makeup but it is ideal to prep the skin for the subsequent moisturising step.

Rescu. Recommends: A mild toner for your skin type
After the winter skin slog, applying a mildly acidic toner after cleansing will re-balance the skin’s pH factor and prevent oil and bacteria spreading. Toners have come a long way; the right toner can deliver the extra step in cleansing and provide vital ingredients for a satisfying treatment.

3. Refine and Renew

This spring, your skin is just as excited, as you are to shed those extra layers as the weather warms up.

You’re using: An occasional facial scrub

4. Replenish

The moisturiser should mimic the skin’s lipid structure and help restore the skin’s protective barrier. An SPF in your day cream will also ensure prevention of future damage.

5. Protect

Increase your sun protection this spring in order to be fully covered by the time the onslaught of the Australian summer sun begins.

You’re using: A tinted moisturiser or BB Cream with SPF
Rescu. Recommends: An anti-ageing foundation with SPF
Natural sun filters such as plant oils and extracts will reduce signs of thermal stress and protect against free radicals.  A long-lasting foundation with SPF made up of these sun-barriers will offer premium coverage and maximum sun protection with anti-ageing bonuses.

6. Sleep it off

A rich anti-oxidant night cream will help nourish and restore important elements of the skin’s surface while the body is resting. Add an anti-ageing serum to the equation to enhance skin firmness, luminosity and increase elasticity.

You’re using: Just a night cream, sometimes.

You’re: Doing the basics and hoping for a miracle.
