Adele, Rihanna and the Middleton sisters are among a throng of powerful personalities who made Time Magazine’s annual 100 Most Influential People in the World list. Not surprising given the amount of press generated between them!
Pop singers, Adele and Rihanna and royalty, Duchess Catherine and Pippa Middleton are among the top 100 poineers, moguls, leaders and icons “who inspire us, entertain us, challenge us and change our world” according to TIME Magazine.
The annual list, ranging from baseball players to politicians, which has usually been dominated by American personalities includes a fair count of Hollywood’s elite and an overseas contingent of 54 people, outweighing the Americans. The list also contains 38 women- more then ever before.
Time managing editor Rick Stengel said the list was “about the infinite possibilities of influence and the power of influence to change the world.”
“Now [one] can tweet a phrase that reaches millions in a flash. Influence was never easier – or more ephemeral. Which is why we try to choose those people whose influence is both lasting and, with a few notable exceptions, laudable.”
The list, compiled by after an online poll of readers, also included Barack Obama (no surprises there), The Help’s Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain, Tilda Swinton, Chelsea Handler, Kristen Wiig, Hillary Clinton and Claire Danes.
Who do you think deserves to make the list?
