Each year, Perry is inspired by far away lands and the beauty of the ideal exotic woman. This year’s Arabian Princess was surely a thoroughbred. All long legs, glossy mane and aware of her faultless power and pedigree.
Sequins, tulle, embellishments and flawless tailoring are the hallmarks of Alex Perry’s designs and they came out in full force at the show.
Model after model presented dreamy creations that made us forget that the GFC was only a year ago and that there was actually another interest rate rise that day.
We wanted to be the Perry Princess. Strong, stunning and proud. We wanted to go to the parties and red carpet events where these dresses come to life. We wanted the high hair and dramatic make up. We wanted the music of the show to be the soundtrack to our fabulous life.
Perry never disappoints his fans and his gracious double front row and extensive seating allowed for so many of his admirers to be part of the magic of his world. Jaded front row editors were tapping their toes and smiling as the frothy creations came out and the crowd was delighted when Perry, visibly moved by his own achievement, took to his own runway and walked the entire length at the end of the show. Australia’s very own Prince of Fashion.
