We were still stepping into the time machine and exiting in the seventies for Louis Vuitton’s 2010 collection. However, rather than the relaxed, flowing ‘free love’ feel that has been popular at other design houses, the feel here was more of a street wear. The type of clothes that the Jackson Five would have hot footed down town to their recording studio in.
From the moccasins on the models’ feet, right up to the large afro wigs adorning their heads, it yelled the seventies, and musically hummed ‘I want you back’.
Marc Jacobs said that he was inspired by the idea of the traveller for this collection, and as such oversized bags were strung from models’ sides, decorating their bohemian and baby doll dresses, fringed denim jackets, military cargo pants and blazers
The thought of Louis Vuitton combined with travelling usually conjures up images of LV monogrammed trunks being loaded aboard steam trains or large ships for long voyages at sea. But if you are more of a modern action-seeking traveller whose idea of a trip of a lifetime is a trek in Nepal or to visit villages in India, but you want to do so glamorously – staying in five star tents along the way and wearing understated chic and luxurious practicality – then you may have just found the perfectly glamorous attire.
