Would You Buy Amy Whinehouse’s Cigarette Butts?
Celebrity Memorabilia takes on a whole new meaning as Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty plans to sell celebrity friends’ cigarette ends at a London market. Doherty told NME that he will be setting up a stall at the infamous Camden Market to sell ‘all kinds of sh*t’ belonging to his former love interest Kate Moss and former friend Amy Winehouse.
‘I’ve got fag butts that belong to Bobby Gillespie, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse,’ said Doherty. ‘And I’ve got Christmas paper that [former Coventry City goalkeeper] Steve Ogrizovic sent to the guy from Black Sabbath.’
So the question is, would you pay for the cigarette butts of one of your celebrity idols? Moss is an icon and Winehouse’s smoking habits are a thing of infamy, we can’t wait to see how much these slightly scruffy personal items go for.
Michael Jackson’s Children Grieve in the Spotlight
With the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death this week all eyes are turned to the late pop icon’s family. Usually headlines are occupied with the eccentric family’s constant squabbling but this time it is the children’s wellbeing that has gained attention.
Sources say that the children are having a difficult time recovering from their father’s death amongst the constant barrage of media attention surrounding the issue. Jackson’s nephew, TJ Jackson is co-guardian of his uncle’s three children, Paris, Prince and Blanket, and says that the kids are having a difficult time dealing with the constant attention from celebrity photographers, particularly at this trying time of the year.
TJ supports legislative efforts to stop photographers from shooting images of celebrity children. Whatever the results of his campaign, we hope Jackson’s children are finally able to find some peace.
Kylie Minogue is Honoured for her Contribution to Aussie Music
Pop princess Kylie Minogue will be presented with the JC Williamson Award at the Helpmann Awards in July. The award celebrates those who have made an outstanding contribution to the Australian live entertainment arena and who have had a permanent and positive influence on the industry.
‘For me to be winning an award for being a live entertainer is slightly ironic, it’s so long ago I’ve almost forgot about it, but it is a fact that it used to be a national sport to have a go at me,’ said Minogue when asked about receiving the award. ‘I was terrified on stage at the start of my career. I didn’t know what I was doing on tour. It was absolute torture in the beginning because I wasn’t confident at performing live, bit I soldiered through and now live shows are probably my favourite thing to do. To have travelled that journey and now have a reputation for putting on concerts that are real events and mark points in time, I actually feel really proud of that.’
We’re proud of Kyles too! The songstress has produced some of our favourite aussie tunes and has left her mark on the entertainment scene year after year – even designing last year’s Sydney New Years celebrations.
