Angelina Jolie accepted a very special honour over the weekend, rumour has it Lara Bingle will soon be engaged, and Gisele Bündchen’s former bodyguards have been sentenced to five years in prison.
Angelina Jolie Humanitarian Award
Over the weekend, Angelina Jolie became the youngest person to ever receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ fifth annual Governors Awards.
During the private, black-tie dinner at the Hollywood & Highland Centerm Jolie took to the stage with an emotional thank you speech during which she thanked her late mother whom she said inspired her to think of others and give back. She said, “To stand here today means I did as she asked, and if she were alive, she’d be very proud.” Jolie also thanked her partner Brad Pitt, who was sitting in the audience, saying, “My family, my love, your love and support make everything possible. Mad, and your brothers and sisters, there is no greater honour than being your mum.”
Ahead of the untelevised event, Jolie spoke to Associated Press about the honour, which has previously been awarded to Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, saying, “Paul Newman has been a hero of mine since I was a little girl. Receiving the Hersholt award makes me feel like I am on the right path but also reminds me I have more to do.”
Steve Martin, Angela Lansbury, and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi also received honorary awards for outstanding contributions to film. Guests included Jennifer Garner, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Matthew McConaughey among others.
Lara Bingle and Sam Worthington Engagement Rumours
Between the frequent PDAs on Instagram, radio interviews, and magazine exclusives, it’s clear to the whole world that things have been seriously heating up between Lara Bingle and Sam Worthington over the past couple of months… and fast.
Now, the star and her beau have just landed in Paris, and it’s safe to say all eyes are firmly fixed on the Aussie babe’s ring finger as rumours swirl that the pair are headed down the aisle.
Friends of Bingle told the Daily Telegraph, “It is very serious. They are in love and are very happy. They want to get married, I have heard them say it.”
Despite being only two months in to their relationship (mutual friend Natalie Imbruglia introduced the two in late September), this source’s musings are widely believed to be true and we’re sure there are more than a few designers thinking about what kind of white dress Bingle would wear best!

Gisele Bündchen’s Bodyguards Jailed
The former bodyguards of Brazilian model and one-time Victoria’s Secret model Gisele Bündchen and her football star husband Tom Brady have been sentenced to five years in prison for shooting at photographers trying to get a money shot of the pair.
During the couple’s Costa Rica wedding in April 2009, two photographers were confronted by the bodyguards who demanded they hand over their cameras’ memory cards. As the photographers drove away from the scene, the bodyguards opened fire on them.
Although neither of the photographers were hurt, they filed complaints against the guards and now a court has ruled both Miguel Solis and Alexander Rivas guilty of attempted murder, while a third guard, Manuel Valverde was acquitted.
