Inside Angelina Jolie’s Wedding Dress: Armani, Satin And Children’s Cartoons
We always knew that Angelina Jolie’s wedding dress was going to be simple.
And now that it’s been revealed on the cover of this week’s People Magazine, it looks like our style instincts were correct.
Here’s the inside gossip on the dress: it’s thick satin, and was made by Atelier Versace master tailor Luigi Massi, whom Jolie described as “like family to me”.
“I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this dress,” she told People. “He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together.”
And the simple dress had some very childish accessories: both the skirt and the accompanying veil were covered in embroidered designs taken from drawings by Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children.
According to People, Massi hand-sewed the colourful pictures himself – and they included flowers, horses and people.
The six kids had a strong role in the ceremony: daughters Zahara and Vivienne were flower girls in white, son Pax baked the cake, and Shiloh and Knox were joint ring bearers.
All the boys, plus Shiloh, wore suits for the occasion (Shiloh’s variation included shorts), and Zahara wore a dress custom-made by family friend Adama Kebe.
And apparently Pitt’s fashion was simple – he took a black suit from his closet, and had to borrow a tie from one of his sons when he discovered he’d forgotten to pack one.
As for the jewellery, it was designed by Robert Procop, who also designed Jolie’s modern engagement ring, apparently worth nearly half a million dollars.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Collaborates With Diane von Furstenberg
Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand, GOOP, is venturing beyond a weekly newsletter and the occasional curated object into the world of fashion.
And Paltrow has picked a heavy hitter for her first collaborator: Diane von Furstenberg.
You’ll know DVF as the inventor of the wrap dress, or perhaps as head of the Council of Fashion Designers America, but now she has a new label under her belt: DVF x GOOP.
For a preview of the collection, look at Gwyneth herself: she wore a jumpsuit from the line for a party celebrating the collaboration in The Hamptons last week, and then changed into a white eyelet dress, also a DVF-GOOp creation.
But don’t hold out for a wardrobe-busting collection. The collaboration, which goes on sale on September 10, is going to be mega-small – two outfits and two clutches that Gwyneth and Diane co-designed, plus a selection of other DVF wares.
Paltrow was effusive about her idol – she described Von Furstenberg as ‘fabulous, sexy, incredibly intelligent… so wise and so maternal! She’s just the most incredible example of who I would like to be.’
GOOP’s got trouble elsewhere, though – it’s being sued for using the title The Diet Detective for a segment, as a US professor claims he’s trademarked the term.
Hopefully a new DVF x GOOP outfit could make us forget all about those legal troubles, though…

Fashion Palette Shows Off Australian Designs At NYFW
Emerging Australian designers who can’t yet quite afford a show all of their own at New York Fashion Week are being shown off this year, as Fashion Palette mounts a special show to display their talent.
And for the first time, Fashion Palette is bringing two runway shows to NYFW’s schedule.
It’s the big chance for 16 up-and-coming designers, including Betty Tran, Stephen Khalil, Misha Collection and Phillipps Galasso – but the chosen few are hardly beginners.
They’re all established names with celeb clientele and stylists on speed dial, but the cost of mounting a NYFW show is prohibitive and can be crippling for a young label.
Even bigger brands are facing the pressure: Band Of Outsiders pulled out of the NYFW shows last week, citing the difficulties of opening a store on the same day, and protesting the stress of the runway industry.
Sponsorship or a private showing are often the only options for smaller labels, so the big splash for Fashion Palette is a wonderful new model.
And they’ve divided their talent in two, bringing New York both a ready-to-wear show and a bridal and evening wear runway.
NYFW isn’t all about pretty pictures – it’s an important place to establish your name and be seen by international stockists and boutiques, who then compete to stock the up-and-comers they think will sell.
So we hope Fashion Palette’s shows are crowded with insiders, press and gossip – and that the designers love having their first big NYFW splash. We doubt it’ll be their last.
