Aptly named Talisman (meaning to possess supernatural or magical powers) Perth designer Aurelio Costarella well and truly had the fashion pack spellbound after unveiling his Summer 10/11 RAFW collection.
Models floated down the runway swathed in sweeping silk gowns, juxtaposed with leather-corseted waists, heavily embellished fabrics and finished off with large chiffon flower corsages.
Taking inspiration for the colour palette from the Australian Landscape, the 22-piece collection featured pretty muted hues in ochre, powdered pink, and terracotta, punctuated with gold embellished metallic highlights.
Costarella kept silhouettes sleek and narrow, showcasing both classic sweeping floor length evening gowns as well as short, flirty structured mini’s- all of which were adorned with gathered ruffles, covered jewels, fur vests and feathers.
The team at Lee Preston Hairdressing and Goldwell pinned back the models hair off the face into big, crimped, messy buns, while MAC kept the make-up pretty, muted and soft, adding lashings of glitter at the temples- in keeping with the dreamy, magical theme.
Admiring the sea of whimsical feminine silhouettes from the front row was Marie Claire Editor Jackie Frank, Racing royalty Kate Waterhouse and shoe queen Terry Biviano (whose suede, zippered booties adorned models feet at the show.)
