Day 3 was upon us and I was personally excited for the some of the shows and looks I was about to witness.
Would I see the same trends from day 1 and 2 in Beauty? Or would there be something new to catch my eye?
One thing I love is learning new ways to create looks by chatting to the Makeup artists backstage!
By Michael Brown
First show for me was Alice McCall, what beautiful collection and the soundtrack was my fave yet!
I went backstage and spoke to the lovely Natasha Severino for M.A.C about her ‘Underwater Worldlyness’ creation.
First thing that attracted me were those amazing blue lashes!
The blue was to mimic blue coral under the sea and were all painted with M.A.C white/blue mixed acrylic paint. Skin was kept fresh with Face and Body foundation and slightly contoured with highlights of shell and lunar cream color base from M.A.C blended on cheekbones.
And the final look? I love the blue lashes, looked great on the runway!
Now, even though I did not attend the We Are Handsome show, Nigel from Maybelline gave me a quick snap to share with you one of the looks, how cool is it?
Almost a tad 80s and the colours work together so well!
Next on my agenda was the Camilla show; I was very excited for this one, as I knew creativity would be in the room. A very warm setting at Centennial Park saw makeup artists battling the heat and pushing through there looks. Max May was heading up this show for M.A.C and created what he described as gold shooting stars across the eyes, to catch the light as they are walking and keeping in theme to mother nature.
I loved the simplicity, yet detail of this look with M.A.C gold pigment. Max then had 4 signature girls that was inspired by an artist Valley Myers, who was famous for her dark raccoon like eyes and later on tattooed her face with a mustache design which he replicated using the M.A.C cream back liner to create a very in touch with mother nature theme.
I loved this overall creative design, especially with the Camilla collection; everything came together and gave you a journey.
I then whisked myself back to Carriageworks and visited the ever so fun Nigel Stanislaus, makeup guru for Maybelline, where he was working on Watson X Watson.
I immediately saw the face chart as the models were away rehearsing and wanted to see the real thing, a coastal holiday sounded very inviting!
The lovely Nigel explained the Watson X Watson girl has been taken away from the city and are on the coast, so they he created a slightly sun kissed glow on the skin with bronzer and a beautiful ‘mirrored mauve’ gloss around the eyelid to create that fresh, just woke up, raw eyelid with the shine to replicate just getting out of the water.
A gloss was taken through the brow and the fun pink pop lip in 900 was layered 3 times to give intensity.
Check out the Maybelline products used;
And of course, the fun coastal finished look!
I was with Nigel, from Maybelline; backstage again at Michael Losordo where I saw some fun bits of blue on the models outer eyes. I was intrigued, so Nigel gave me the run down of this look!
There was a story of young girls at a convent who wanted to escape to become women and this was played out in makeup with a modern edge.
No colour through cheeks and lips kept the ‘young girl’ image with only a blue triangle detail on the outer areas of the eye!
I also loved the detail in the nails from Essie, have a look at their creation.
Last but not least for the night was a chat to a fabulous makeup artist, Liz Kelsh, Makeup Director with Max Factor for Easton Pearson, and boy it looked fun backstage!
Colour was definitely present and if you see my hair post from Day 3, you will see why.
Hyper real, futuristic and a bit of a modern take on the Alfred Hitchcock movies saw each Model had certain colour’s sprayed through their hair, which was then painted through the brows.
Through the brow was the Colour Effects range which you can use wet or dry, and this was applied in stages to row intensity depending on each models spray hair colour created.
The skin is kept natural and fresh with SKII eye masks and essence to have real glow, not a made up glow. Miracle touch foundation was used almost like a concealer to once again keep everything light and on the lip is a new Max Factor Giant Pen stick, applied very lightly as a stain to create little colour.
Love that Miss Frou Frou nail too for a contrast.
So day three had more pops of colour than previous days, but still the big trend of nude skin, if it looks real you are doing well!
See you all for day four!
