As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia starts winding down, I was still alert for more beauty trends. It has been a week of nude skin and realness in beauty, with the pop of colour here and there – There really was no in between, its either all or nothing!
By Michael Brown.
My first stop backstage was for Suboo and I caught up with Elizabeth Arden’s National Makeup Artist, Stephen Gaskett. It was lovely to see a different makeup brand backstage and Stephen explained the look has a lot of structure, but still keeping the models innocence. Models were prepped with well with the Elizabeth Arden skincare ranges to bring out realness of the skin and with the new sponge on foundation which is light reflecting and semi matte, great for runway!
A structured brow and a real earthy tone contoured cheek gave that modern direction to suit the collection, leaving the lip as more of a stain rather than a full lip.
All models were glowed and tanned up to contrast against some of the lighter pieces in Suboo’s collection with Model Co;
And I loved the OPI Nails in Silver, looked great with the accessories like below;
Next on my makeup agenda was to see what Makeup Director Amber Dreadon from M.A.C was up too back stage for Phoenix Keating!
I was intrigued straight away as I saw a model with this incredible lip colour, then noticed that each model had a slight difference to it, which was something different. Amber described her reasoning behind the looks were from Phoenix and his vision of an Alien girl who has come to earth, desperately wanting to be human, she falls in love, but doesn’t get love back in return, so the makeup looks are in stages from hopeful to then going more crazy towards the end. Have a look at the different stages of the Alien girls journey;
Pretty creative and looks fun to create!
The skin has a paleness to it and highlighted with a pink/opal pigment to catch the light and Fuchsia mixed with black lip mix created the vamp lip!
How great are these nails from Essie?
There were some in black, some in white and this hand painted design on each nail – very clever and cool!
I think I want to have a play now and create something cool!
Well that is my day 4 and Fashion Week as a wrap, stay tuned for my week highlights coming up soon!
