The Look: Fresh Start
The hair look at the A/W ’12 Peter Som show in New York represented a new direction for a new season with contrast playing a key role. “The Peter Som collection this season is very pared back and led by strict shapes and colours, so I wanted to create a graphic look that worked with the collection but at the same time was not too harsh” said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Care and Styling, Wella Professionals. “This look is all about tension; tension from the contrast of the small sleek head shape against the full wildness and texture at the back of the hair, and tension between the shine and precision of the top section against the arid rawness of the longer lengths”, adds Eugene.
Get the Look:
• Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition.
• Prep hair with Wella Professionals Stay Brilliant Color Protecting Lotion and then blow dry hair with a round brush to create texture.
• Section the hair at the front of hair and create a deep side parting. Smooth hair down and spray with Wella Professionals Perfect Setting to create a smooth and sleek finish, comb this through so that the hair is flat to the head and finish with Wella Professionals Stay Styled hairspray – spraying close to the hair to give a ‘gel like’ finish.
• Pull the hair back behind the ears and create a low, tight pony tail at the nape of the neck.
• Spray the ponytail with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray to add texture and twist hair into a bun and secure with hair pins. ‘Set’ hair by applying heat from a blow dryer (a blow dry hood is perfect for this).
• When hair is completely dry, remove the pins and pony tail and allow the bun to come undone so that the hair falls on the back of the head in matte, textured waves.
• To create more volume and texture, lift random sections of the hair, back brush and spray with Wella Professionals Stay Styled hairspray.

The Look: Sleek Perfection
The hair look at the A/W ’12 Narciso Rodriguez was part sci-fi, part Parisian chic. “I wanted to create a hair look that was aerodynamic and gave the impression that the hair was moving at an incredibly high speed”, said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Care & Styling, Wella Professionals. This super sharp hair look acted as the perfect contrast to a beautifully tailored collection which featured sharp lines and strong colors.
“There is a feeling of strength and perfection within this look, it’s very precise and controlled which gives it a super modern feel” added Eugene.
Get the Look:
• Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition.
• Prep wet hair with Wella Professionals Perfect Setting Lotion then blow dry using a flat bristle brush and pulling the hair very tight away from the face.
• Separate the centre panel of hair on the top of the head by taking a line on both sides from the recession point of the hair to the nape, creating a ‘mohican’ section and clip this section out of the way.
• Taking the side sections of hair one at a time, create a half French pleat and pin into place (you want to give the feeling of an ection of hair and spray the back section of the hair with Wella Professionals Thermal Image spray, before running straightening irons through the hair to make it completely straight.
• Spray the middle section of hair with a liberal spray of Wella Professionals Hair Spray and brush towards the back of the head with a soft bristle brush, then divide the section at the front of the head into two parts and comb hair towards the centre and pull back – using Wella Professionals Stay Styled hairspray spray closely on the hair to create lasting comb marks within the wave.
• Repeat this process up to the crown section, allowing the back section of hair to hang straight.
