From modeling to acting, television presenting, producing and even standup comedy, it seems Michelle Walsh has done it all, and all whilst looking incredible. Now writer of the addictive blog Mrs Walsh, Michelle is an absolute bank of wisdom on all things travel, food and lifestyle. This week, Michael Brown sat down with Michelle to find out her beauty and makeup secrets – the little tricks and tips she keeps up her sleeve to look beautiful no matter how busy life may be.
Michelle’s beauty regime starts with the basics – she credits her divine complexion to sun protection, describing Invisible Zinc as ‘an absolute lifesaver product.’ She’s had a commitment to protecting her skin since a young age, ‘moisturise, moisturise, moisturise and always wear sunblock… that’s the best anti-aging advice my mother ever gave me.’
But Michelle’s commitment to natural beauty extends beyond her skincare routine. She chooses simple makeup that enhances her natural beauty, rather than going for bold colours or effects. ‘I think the first thing I ever remember is going to the grade six disco and putting on bright green eyeshadow and my mother going “you look tarty!” and I’ve been natural ever since, I’m so traumatised!’
Considering Michelle’s love for travel and being outdoors – well documented in her blog Mrs Walsh – it isn’t surprising that her personal definition of beauty draws on the natural world. ‘I like natural beauty in things, without sounding like a cliche, whether it be a flower, a picture, a painting, all of those things mean beauty to me.’
Where does a pro like Mrs Walsh turn for beauty inspiration? Angelina Jolie. ‘I’m completely obsessed with Angelina Jolie, I think she’s incredible. I think she’s just natural beauty,’ she says. ‘she seems to highlight one thing. Whether it’s a beautiful big cat eye or a red lip or something, there’s one thing that just stands out with her.’
