Christmas and office-party season is rearing it’s festive head into view, so there’s no time like the present to get those killer lips and smokey eyes down pat for a show-stopping, party-starting beauty look.

Party Starter Beauty Look 1: Festive Smokey Cat Eye
1 – Create a cat’s eye base by drawing a thick, dense smokey line across the eyelid with a matte black pencil.
2 – Apply the darkest eye shadow over the entire eyelid, all the way up to the brows. Emphasize your pencil line to make it “shimmer”. Rescu. loves the Dior Grand Bal Palette 5 Couleurs (524 Night Golds $99 available from selected Myer and David Jones stores)
3 – Blend outwards following the smokey line you made in step 1.
4 – Now apply the lightest eye shadow to the area defined from the eyebrow down to the middle of the eyelid.
5 – Highlight the inner corner of the eye and the brow bone with a touch of gold shadow.
6 – Coat the upper lashes with a black mascara
Rescu. loves Lancome Hypnôse Custom-Wear Volume Mascara ($52 available from Myer, David Jones and selected pharmacies.)
Expert Tip:
For drawing a kohl-like line as shown, or for structuring a smokey eye, a black eyeliner pencil is a must-have.
Rescu. recommends the MAC Vera Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Black Swan ($32 call 1800 613 828 for stockists)
Party Starting Beauty Look 2: Heroine Lips
1 – This graphic, ultra-modern lip is first lined using straight (not curved) lines – in particular to accentuate the “V” of the cupid’s bow.
2 – Still using your liner, fill in the lips to create a base that will boost the colour result and increase pigment hold.
3 – Apply your hottest fire engine red lipstick, Rescu. recommends the Rouge Diorific Lipstick (pictured, $50 available from major department stores and selected pharmacies)
4 – Finish by touching up the lip line with a brush (or a cotton bud) dipped in foundation.
Expert Tip: It’s all about the mix: on polished, even and luminous skin, a red lip stands out even more.
