Beauty School: How to Prep Your Skin like a Celebrity

Puffiness, dark circles and blemishes are not exactly on the A-list agenda, so when that big event is around the corner and especially when that blind pimple seems dangerously close to the surface, learn how to get that celebrity red-carpet-worthy complexion on the day.

One Month Before:

You are what you eat when it comes to your skin, so while you can’t get a flawless complexion in one day, start a month ahead of your big event by getting into good diet and skin care routines. Cut out food and drinks that don’t make friends with your skin; surgery drinks, alcohol, too much caffeine and refined sugar. Fill up on healthy, organic, nutritious foods and if you have acne prone skin focus on reducing saturated fats, and avoiding nonorganic meats, white sugar and white flour help, as does increasing fiber.
Drink lots of water to keep your complexion clear and your organs flushed!

As for skin care, at the beginning of the month a microdermabrasion and deep cleaning facial is ideal to kick start clear skin. See our favourite facial masks (link). It may seem obvious but cleanse, tone and moisturise daily to get rid of daily dirt and grime for consistently clear and clean skin.

One Week Before:

This is when you’ll want to avoid any skin irritation ahead of the event. Don’t try any new hardcore skin care regimes or products, as you may not have time for any blemishes or irritation to disappear.
Opt for a gentle treatment and deep exfoliator or if you are prone to bumps, blemishes and blackheads.

The Night Before:

The night before is when you’ll need to get your tan on and head to bed with only the best-of-the-best overnight creams to wake up looking your best. Try to have a healthy meal (avoiding sugar) and plenty of water to ensure you wake up feeling fresh and fabulous. And remember, bed by 10pm to ensure you allow yourself the deepest, most rejuvenating sleep.

The Day Of:

Catch up on those Z’s; beauty sleep is where you’ll find refreshed, revitalised skin and the easiest way to diminish puffiness and dark circles. Having a stress free day will also help keep away any unwanted pimples, but if they do arise with the sun just remember to not touch them and invest in a concealer to fake that flawless complexion.
