Beauty Trend: Pure And Natural Make-Up

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Pinterest

By Kimberly Nissen, The Beauty Bandit

If you wear make-up today as a woman, chances are your first introduction with it was as a young girl playing dress-ups. For us Rescu. ladies, we were sifting through our mother’s make-up drawer as soon as we could reach it. Unfortunately, not all make up is suitable for sensitive young skin.

For Adelaide-based mother, Georga Holdich, she didn’t want her two young daughters putting anything nasty on their skin during playtime.

“I try to offer my children safer alternatives where possible but couldn’t find many natural, play makeup options aimed at children, to add to their dressing up games and therefore decided to develop my own kits”, says Georga of her newest development, Pure Poppet. The kit retails for $39.95 and is available from Pure Poppet online.

Georga’s beauty products contain no nasty surprises as they are made in Australia from natural ingredients that are safe for precious skin. This creation got us thinking about the latest trend in make-up taking an all–natural approach.

Today we are going to show you three more make-up brands offering natural, safe alternatives.

After suffering from some medical set-backs when trying to conceive, Inika Cosmetics founder Miranda Bond detoxed her life, getting rid of anything containing chemicals, including her beloved skincare and cosmetics. After just three months on her new regime, she fell pregnant.

This experience inspired the now hugely successful brand of Inika Cosmetics. The all encompassing, 100% natural beauty brand incorporates mineral makeup, vegan and organic products that are completely free from synthetic chemicals and harmful ingredients.

Available from Inika Cosmetics online, TVSN and 300 selected stockists nationally.

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has been well regarded for their holistic skincare products for decades, but many are surprised to learn that the brand applied their natural healing beliefs to cosmetics as well.

Their Decorative Cosmetics line features essential everyday basics along with limited edition colour collections. All the products are composed of biodynamically harvested plant ingredients from their own herb farms in Germany. The belief that their products purity and efficiency nurtures health and beauty externally, and internally.

Available from David Jones, Adore Beauty online and selected salons

We have all seen the TV ads telling us that Nude By Nature is the bee’s knees. Not only do the products really work, but they are actually really good for you too. The mild formulations contain no chemicals, bismuth, talc or fillers of any kind.

Nude By Nature started off as just a 3-step system for flawless powder foundation but with their success they have now created everything from colour cosmetics to skincare, all with their natural take on beauty.

Available from leading department stores, pharmacies and salons.

There are lots of nasty ingredients that we hear about more often than others, such as parabens and talc. Australian skincare expert, Clint Dowdell, sheds some light on another one we should be checking labels for.

“Bismuth is used in many make-up products and provides “slip” (easy application and slide across the skin). It has a pearlescent glow and creates a glow. So not everything Bismuth does is bad. After using make-up containing Bismuth, have you ever experienced redness, irritation, itchiness, small bumps or pustules, burning or swelling? Then this is due to bismuth!”
