Australia and New Zealand are currently honouring World Fair Trade Fortnight, which is the biggest annual celebration of its kind.
The aim of the fortnight is to encourage people to swap their everyday items such as coffee, tea, bananas chocolate and even their cotton tees to Fairtrade products, with the notion that by doing this you can make a positive difference to someone else’s life.
Fairtrade aims to improve the quality of life for small-scale producers of products, like those listed above, in developing countries. The movement helps workers to establish a guaranteed minimum price for items and by investing in the future for their communities the movement aims to break the cycle of poverty.
