There’s something about the Block that Aussie’s can’t get enough of. After three season airing this year, the interior design powerhouse has no signs of slowing down.
Acknowledging the frenetic pace of the show, co-creator Julian Cress had to shut down the block during production of ‘The Blocktagon’, as the schedule to finish in line with weekly judging took it’s toll on the structural crew. This shut-down will feature heavily in this week’s episodes.
So far this season we’ve seen catfights, a gas leak and some of the most stunning room reveals to date.
Judge Shaynna Blaze, was overheard saying the she hopes Kingi and his partner Caro go on to have a professional design career. She previously made this comment about twins Alissa and Lysandra, the South Australian policewomen cum designers, who now run a successful design and homewares business.
The construction site, ‘Blocktagon’ is architecturally more challenging than past seasons and the season has taken renovation to an unheard of on television level. Former Hotel Saville in South Yarra – an octagonal, eight floor brick building is the site of this season and was reportedly snatched by the producers for $7.3 billion dollars.
Comeback kids Luke and Ebony have had a tough ride of late. The brother and sister duo, were booted off last season of the block before making it to the final build, but were brought back at special request of the judges. They seem to have hit their stride half-way through the competition and are emerging as dark horses to take the title.
