Just one day after celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have, sadly, announced their divorce.
The couple told People in a joint statement, “After much though and careful consideration we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
The announcement comes after rumours started circling earlier this month when an insider told Us Weekly, “The marriage is in trouble.” It was reported Afflect’s workaholic tendencies were causing Garner, who was usually home with the kids, increasing concern.
Garner, 43, and Affleck, 42, have three kids together: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. The pair met on the set of the film Daredevil in 2003 after Affleck’s very public split from Jennifer Lopez. Two years later, they were married in a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos and, despite a few eyebrow-raising comments over the last few years, they have since appeared to be one of the more stable couples in Hollywood.
This was Affleck’s first marriage and Garner’s second (the first being to actor Scott Foley.)
We have to say, this one has broken our hearts!
