Expert Insight
Labeling laws and claims regarding natural and organic products are getting stricter, but it is still difficult to really tell what is fact and what is fiction.
A recent Datamonitor report found consumers are concerned about misleading natural and organic claims on cosmetic and beauty products. The report found 30% of consumers question the credibility of these claims. The consumer perception has merit because cosmetics brands don’t require certification to make ‘natural’ claims. Alarming!
Comvita’s Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Ralf Schlothauer explains why the NPA Certification is important to have.
“Products with natural-sounding names or one organic ingredient can often imply they are natural and good for you. That isn’t always the case. Conversely, ingredients with long or scientific sounding names aren’t always synthetic or man-made. And your skin recognizes, and is much more able to metabolize, natural ingredients than synthetic ones.”
“Natural cosmetics are the fastest growing trend in the world today because people simply want effective skincare that’s safe for your skin and safe for the environment too.”
“We wanted our customers to have total confidence and trust in Comvita’s HUNI®XA™ range. We stand behind each and every ingredient in our range.”
