The celebrity baby we’ve been patiently waiting for has finally arrived!
On Saturday night in a private wing of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York Beyonce Knowles gave birth with husband Jay-Z right by her side.
According to the New York Daily News, Beyonce checked into the Upper East Side hospital under the name Ingrid Jackson. The former Destiny’s Child member is said to have booked out the entire fourth floor of the hospital for $1.3 million. The floor was blocked off and even doctors and nurses were barred from entering after 11pm. In an effort to stop pictures leaking, hospital workers put tape over the security cameras and forced employees to turn in cell phones on arrival.
Initially, reports were calling the baby ‘Ivy Blue’ but soon after we were all corrected with E! reporter Ken Baker clarifying that friends of the couple had confirmed the newborn was actually named ‘Blue Ivy’. Gwyneth Paltrow backed these claims up, tweeting at a fan, ‘It’s Blue Ivy Carter’ and Beyonce’s sister Solange tweeted, ‘Information that goes through the telephone, always gets delivered wrong.’
Reps for the music power couple, who are said to be worth close to $750 million, are yet to release a statement.
Naturally, the internet has reacted with gusto. Just hours after the birth was revealed, a fake twitter accounts @IvyBlueCarter and @IvyBlue_ emerged. Already it seems the @IvyBlueCarter account has been suspended and seems to have been replaced by @IvyKnowles. The hilarious blog ‘Suri’s Burn Book’ has naturally reacted as well.
