Blake Lively is announced as the face of Gucci Première fragrance and Lana Del Ray is set to star in a campaign for H&M.
The ‘Gossip Girl’ star will represent the Italian fashion house for its new female scent ‘Gucci Première’. The fragrance bears the same name as Gucci’s red carpet line and evokes the high-octane glamour of Hollywood.
Frida Giannini, Gucci’s Creative Director, said, “In conceiving this fragrance I was inspired by timeless Hollywood glamour and the iconic leading ladies of Hollywood’s golden era.”
Giannini thinks the actress is the perfect modern-day embodiment of that era. “Blake’s unique style and charisma brings that allure to life in a very contemporary way.”
The designer also praised her youthful spirit. “Although she’s young, she’s also very determined, and I liked this spirit… she knows how to be a diva in the right sense, with an aspirational glamour.”
Blake, above on the campaign set, is equally thrilled with her first ever fragrance deal.
She said, “It is a pleasure to collaborate with Frida Giannini. I admire the qualities of the Gucci Première woman and feel honored to represent the fragrance.”
She added to WWD, “Gucci is a staple. It is a brand I have always looked up to because to me it represents strength. In their designs, in their images, in what they stand for philanthropically, and especially in their fragrance… I couldn’t be more proud to be working with Gucci and its heart, Frida.”
The campaign comprises a short film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and a print ad shot by Mert & Marcus. The film will debut at the Venice Film Festival in September.
Blake joins Evan Rachel Wood, Chris Evans and James Franco as a face of Gucci perfumes.
Gucci Première will be available in Australia from 14 October 2012.
The ‘Video Games’ singer is said to be in the middle of shooting a campaign for the Swedish high street store, with the ads being revealed later this year.
A source told the New York Post newspaper, “She’s shooting an H&M campaign in New York.”
Earlier this year, luxury label Mulberry created a bag in her honour and she admits it was a dream come true.
She said of her namesake bag, “I love the design, it’s a perfect mix between old school Hollywood and contemporary style. It’s an honour that such a classic and prestigious brand would name a bag after me.”
Mulberry creative director Emma Hill added, “We wanted to design a gorgeous bag that reflected Lana Del Rey’s style and beauty so we thought the bag should be simple and structured yet relevant for now and recognisable instantly as a classic Mulberry piece.
“We wanted it to be functional with an uptown twist as Lana is such a wonderful uptown girl herself; its shape implies structure yet it has gorgeous squidgeablity!
“To me it also had to be very Mulberry, very us so we gave it the classic postman’s lock hardware and a great front pocket – for all your bits and pieces! It’s a mixture of Mulberry, a touch of Lana’s old-school glamour, and total practicality: it’s quickly become our best friend!”
