By Katie MartlewFrench make-up artist and authority on all things Parisian-Chic Mr Tom Pecheux has shaken things up in the Estée Lauder house as their new Creative Makeup Director with the release of his seriously smouldering Blue Dahlia Pure Colour collection.
Somewhat of a bolt out of the ‘blue’ this glam new two-part collection debuted at Derek Lam’s A/W 2010 fashion show, featuring strong, striking eyes in vintage violet and electric blue hues paired with subdued pale shimmery lips.
“The idea overall is to work closely with Tom Pecheux (pictured left with French Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld) on the evolution of Pure Colour for the Estee Lauder brand. What we’re trying to do is really re-establish the brand’s connection with glamour, style and fashion with which it was always associated. We’re coming back in a new and modern way”, says Estée Lauder’s Global Brand President Jane Hertzmark Hudis.
The eyes have it…
The piece de resistance of the collection are the striking Pure Colour EyeShadow Palettes in Blue Dahlia and Surreal Violet. We are head over heels for each of these perfectly paired palettes, not only because they are housed in a gorgeous gold-mirrored compact, but their ability to add a vibrant pop-colour twist on the traditional smoky eye. Whether you opt for an intense shock of electric blue, or a slightly subtler and oh-so whimsical vintage violet, each palette features five blendable shades, which can be layered for optimal intensity. Pure Colour EyeShadow Palettes in Blue Dahlia and Surreal Violet RRP $90
The collection also features four new shades of Pure Colour EyeShadow Singles in subtly sweet shades Twilight Rose and Sepia Sand, as well as standout pop-colour hues Enchanted Meadow and Emerald Star for a more intense look. RRP $42.00
Lip service…To perfectly compliment the intensity of the eye shadow, the collection features a range of gorgeous subdued lip colours in pretty pinks and mauves. The Pure Colour Gloss Stick is a super conditioning lipstick with a soft shine finish. Must have shades include the pearlescent Rose Dusk, Night Bloom and Mauve Mirage.
RRP $42.00
The Pure Colour Lip Gloss is available in three high shine finishes, delivering maximum colour impact and vibrancy with a luminous shimmer. For a subtle coral coloured gloss to perfectly balance strong eyes, we love the shade Twilight Petal, and for a more intense nighttime look, we love the Raspberry Pop shade. RRP $42.00
Nail it…
Finishing off this stunning collection is the long wearing, quick-drying Pure Colour Nail Lacquer in the too-pretty shade Surreal Violet, and Blue Dahlia- an absolute to-die-for intense navy shade (pictured left). Blue nails are certainly having ‘a moment’, and this polish is up there with our most favourite deep navy shades to date.
RRP $36.00
The Blue Dahlia Collection will be available at all Estée Lauder Counters nationwide and online at www.esteelauder.com.au from August 8th 2010.
