Food and sex are explicably linked. They both feature in the daily routine of most of us at some stage in our lives, they both evoke feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, and what we eat can actually boost our sex drive.
If you or your partner are in need of a libido boost quick fast, add these four foods, as recommended by HERO Condoms sexologist Juliet Allen, to your diet and before you know it you’ll be getting busy with the best of them.
Goji Berries
Goji berries have been around for years and are known to be a strong sexual tonic. Goji’s boost testosterone levels, and high testosterone levels are associated with high libido (which means more sex!). These powerful berries are great for stamina, endurance and overall energy levels. Use Goji’s as you would any other dried fruit and add it to cooking, smoothies, porridge and breakfast cereals.
Maca
Maca is a powerful root found in Peru that is known to the locals as ‘nature’s Viagra’. Maca not only tastes amazing, but it dramatically boosts your sex drive and energy levels. This root is not to be messed with! I can personally vouch for the power of a daily dose as a remedy for low libido. Peruvian locals also use Maca root as a remedy for vaginal dryness, erectile dysfunction and impotency. Add Maca powder to your baking, smoothies and yoghurt…or take Maca capsules as a daily supplement.
Bee Pollen
In Chinese medicine, bee pollen is known as a powerful energy tonic that contains every vitamin, mineral, amino acid, antioxidant and other trace element known to man. Bee pollen tastes amazing and doubles as a potent aphrodisiac and fertility booster. Add bee pollen to your morning smoothie, sprinkle on top of yoghurt or ice cream, and mix into home-made cakes and cookies.
Dark Chocolate
Yes, dark chocolate! Dark chocolate contains a heap of antioxidants and helps release a feel-good chemical called phenylethylamine. Feeling good is essential for our sexual health and happiness and chocolate is renowned for it’s ‘feel-good’ qualities. Which brings me to the possibility of bringing food and sex together as the ultimate duo. If you’re into both at the same time, chocolate is ideal for this scenario! Melt the chocolate and gently use the warmth of it to stimulate your partner’s senses (and the taste as a motivation to lick it off their body). And as with any other form of sex, it’s essential that to keep it safe you use condoms alongside the chocolatey, sexy mess!
