Carine Roitfeld’s daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, has given birth to a baby girl and the St. John label is on the market.
The former French Vogue editor’s daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld and her boyfriend Robert Konjic have welcomed a daughter, Romy Nicole Konjic.
Harper Bazaar’s Derek Blasberg tweeted, ”Congratulations to proud Momma@RestoinRJulia! (And thus, the chicest grannie ever: Carine Roitfeld!) Can’t wait to meet the beautiful baby! (sic)”
Next Models publicist Katy Moseley confirmed the news in an official statement, ”We are delighted to confirm that Julia and Robert have had a healthy baby girl. Both mother and daughter are doing very well and resting at home.”
Julia announced in November that she and model Robert were expecting a baby and recently posed semi-nude for i-D magazine to show off her bump in a shoot styled by her mother.
The model and art director said at the time, ”I loved that my mum dressed me sexy like that. Pregnancy’s a moment in a woman’s life when it’s really important to still feel seductive.”
Carine previously revealed she doesn’t want to be called ‘grandma’ and would prefer the title ‘Madame’.
The luxury knitwear company – that has been owned by equity firm Vestar Capital Partners since 1999 and was once represented by Angelina Jolie – is looking for a new owner.
Speaking to WWD, chief executive officer Glenn McMahon said, “We’re in the process of turning the business around. This is a very significant business, and it’s been a very methodical turnaround.
“This is an evolution and a transformation of the brand that we began in earnest four years ago, when I joined the company. We’re pleased with the progress we’re making.”
The fashion house – fronted by former Chloe CEO, Ralph Toledano – has a history of shaking things up.
Angelina, 36, was axed from her $12 million modeling deal with St. John in 2010.
Glenn McMahon reflected at the time that the ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ star’s personal life “overshadowed the brand”, adding, “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
Victoria’s Secret Angel Gisele Bundchen fronted the Autumn/Winter 2005-6 campaign and Jack White’s flame-haired ex-wife, British model Karen Elson, is currently the face of the brand.
St .John is thought to make around $400 million in annual profits.
