For fabulous hair that will take you from work to play, you just can’t go past casual curls. Celebrities from hair goddess Lauren Conrad to Jennifer Lawrence have recently been spotted rocking this look and we can’t wait to try it on. A refreshing break from the tight polished curls of the red carpet, a loose casual curl is a romantic look for both day and night.
Step 1: Always apply a protective serum to your hair before styling, to ensure that your strands remain healthy and strong. Be careful to only apply a small amount, as over applying products will weigh down your curls.
Rescu. Recommends: John Frieda Perfect Ends Deep Fusion ($15.99), this multi-tasking serum will absorb into any damaged strands (rather than sitting on your hair’s surface) and provides excellent heat protection before you apply the curling iron. Available at Priceline, Target and selected supermarkets and pharmacies nationally.
Step 2: Take a section of hair, approximately one inch wide. The size of the section you select may vary depending on the weight and thickness of your hair, as well as the size of your curling iron. We recommend using a large curling iron to create loose curls.
Step 3: Curl the section of hair around the curling iron, starting at the ear. Once curled release and allow to drop. Repeat this process moving around the head until all your hair is curled.
Step 4: Comb through your hair with your fingers to loosen your curls.
Step 5: To preserve your look apply a light mist of medium hold hairspray.
Rescu. Recommends: ghd Final Fix Hairspray ($10 – $20). Designed to secure any hairstyle in place, this lightweight hairspray will preserve your curls whilst adding a lovely lustrous finish. Available at selected salons nationally.
