Star Power at Comic-Con
Over the weekend stars including third highest-paid actor Hugh Jackman, a newly married Halle Berry, Anna Paquin comic, and more gathered at the San Diego Convention Centre for Comic-Con.
Once the domain of geeks and freaks, this annual event, which has been going since 1970, has become something of a star-powered gathering thanks to the influx of Hollywood adaptations of comic books we’ve seen over the past decade or two.
This year saw a huge 125,000 people attend across the four days and a fair few major announcements.
The biggest buzz was over the announcement that Warner Bros have given the go-ahead to a film featuring both Superman and Batman. There’s no word yet on casting or plot but feelings over the crossing of worlds are well and truly divided.
In other cross-over news, the creative team behind The Simpsons confirmed that they would be celebrating their 25th anniversary with a crossover between The Simpsons and Futurama.
Strangely, the convention was also the place Sony decided to launch the final season of Breaking Bad and the cast appeared on a panel to discuss it.
Catching Fire Trailer Revealed
One of the other biggest reveals of the weekend involved one of our all-time favourite celebrities, Jennifer Lawrence.
Lawrence, who arrived looking as fun and fab as ever in a Proenza Schouler crop top, was there to take part in the X-Men Days of Future Past panel, and to promote the next installment of The Hunger Games.
Later, all eyes were on the star and her X-Men co-star Nicholas Hoult as news broke recently the former couple had rekindled their romance on set but the pair were playing it safe and didn’t show any overt signs of romance.
There were, however, more than a few overt signs of romance from Lawrence during the Saturday reveal of the Catching Fire trailer! The official theatrical trailer shows Lawrence making out with co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth along with a sneak peek at the training center and so much more.
During the panel, J-Law was her usual self-depreciatingly hilarious self and told fans that of all the stunts she pulled for the film, “the hardest stunt was probably still just basic running.” Watch the trailer (and Lawrence’s running skills) below.
Veronica Mars Movie Teaser
Saturday also brought Kristen Bell fans something they’ve paid a lot of money for! The star and the rest of the Veronica Mars cast were on site to show off a teaser trailer for the film that raised 2 million on Kickstarter.
The sizzle reel shows some of the stars reactions to the overwhelming Kickstarter response followed by some footage from the flick.
During the panel, director Rob Thomas told fans the film will be released in early 2014. We can’t wait!
