Cate Blanchett New York Film Festival Honour
With the New York Film Festival underway, there’s been a whole lot of star power in the big apple, including none other than Australia’s own Cate Blanchett who was honoured at the festival on Wednesday.
The 44-year-old actress, who has been attracting a whole host of international attention thanks to her incredible performance in Woody Allen’s latest film Blue Jasmine, wore an expectantly stunning nude Armani Prive lace dress and Roger Vivier shoes for the event which was held at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
During a Q&A segment at the special gala tribute, Cate referred to her most recent role as a favourite in her noteworthy career, explaining that it was the, “culmination of my work on the theater and my work in the film.” Given that Blanchett has played such iconic characters as Bob Dylan (I’m Not There), herself (Coffee and Cigarettes), and Queen Elizabeth, this is quite the admission!
Blanchett also received a video accolade from filmmaker Woody Allen, who explained that he couldn’t be there in person because, “I find it impossible to sit through, you know, two hours of relentless adulation, especially for somebody else.”
Congratulations to Cate — so incredibly well deserved.
Julianne Moore Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
There’s only one thing that will see a star to willingly get down on their hands and knees on the sidewalk pavement in LA — a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
The latest celeb to secure a coveted spot is none other than the very deserving four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore whose roles in films like The Big Lebowski, The Kids Are All Right, and The Hours have won her fans all over the world.
Looking radiant in a knee-length yellow dress and white sandals, the 52-year-old star was accompanied by Don Jon costar Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Carrie costar Chloe Grace Moretz, as well as her two kids Cal, 15, Liv, 11, and director husband Bart Freundlich. Her star is the 2,507th on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Next up for Moore is Carrie, set to hit US theatres on October 18, and she was recently cast as President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.
Recipe to Riches Chocorn Hits Stores
If you’ve been watching Recipe to Riches, it’s likely you were in food nirvana during last night’s ‘Something Sweet’ episode just like us.
During the episode, contestants were in a heated battle to win over the expert judges’ taste buds, and their commercial judgment.
All of the contenders in the dessert battle were strong — Karen Marshall’s Violet French Macarons played up to this year’s dessert du jour and Patsy McCrostie’s Raspberry Jam Slice reminded us of our childhood (always a good thing when it comes to sweets) — but it was Garth Midgley’s Chocorn that took out the prize.
Choccorn takes popcorn to a whole new level, fulfilling our love of the salty-sweet combo with aplomb, and, for a limited time only, you can get your hands on it at Woolworths.
There are three truly drool-worthy flavours to choose from so now the only question is which you will choose to indulge in first…
