Cate Blanchett Premiere Blue Jasmine
The Hayden Cremorne Orpheum rolled out the blue carpet for the premiere of Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine last night.
The star, Cate Blanchett, appeared on the carpet wearing a stunning orange Roksanda Illinic gown that managed to strike a perfect balance of uniqueness and sophistication.
In the film Cate Blanchett plays a New York socialite who has a nervous breakdown and moves to San Francisco with her sister and the role has already been put in the same sentence as the words ‘Academy Awards’ more than a few times. In fact, critic Roger Friedman called Blanchett ‘the one to beat’ and publications like Variety, New York Observor and USA Today have all touted their support.
Naturally, Cate has kept her feet firmly on the ground despite all that praise and Oscars buzz — ahead of the screening last night she told Confidential, “It’s nice but what month are we in? That’s short hand for people saying they liked the character.”
Blue Jasmine hits cinemas around Australia on September 12.
Forbes Highest-Paid Models List
Forbes has released its 2013 highest-paid models list and Aussie angel Miranda Kerr, who features in the 2014 Pirelli calendar, are way up on last year’s, sending her soaring up the ranks from number seven (when she earned $4 million) to number two (now earning $7.2 million).
The only model to beat out Kerr is Gisele Bündchen who has secured the number one position for the seventh year in a row with an enormous $42 million.
Both of the top earners pull in the cash from their partnerships and ambassadorships with brands. It is said much of Bündchen’s fortune comes from her partnership with Grendene, a Brazilian footwear company, in which her shares have more than doubled since 2012. She also rakes in the millions from her eco-friendly cosmetics company Sejaa and contracts with brands like Pantene, Oral-B and Sky HDTV.
Miranda Kerr has enjoyed earnings from her contracts with the likes of Qantas and Mango, her own skincare like Kora and more.
It seems these women are far from just pretty faces — their business prowess is what has landed them their top earning spots.
Also interesting is the fact that six of the top ten women on this year’s list either have contracts with Victoria’s Secret, or have appeared in the annual show.
‘N Sync to Reunite for MTV VMAs
With the MTV Video Music Awards just days away, rumours have been flying that ‘N Sync are set to reunite for a performance that will undoubtedly send the audience in to a tailspin.
The New York Post reported this morning that Justin Timberlake and his ex-bandmates J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick will be hitting the stage together for the first time since they performed a televised tribute to the Bee Gees at the Grammys in 2003.
Meanwhile, US Weekly are reporting that nothing has been confirmed and it’s all still in the planning stages. A source revealed, “They’re in Miami right now trying to put something together, if anything at all. It may not be a performance.”
It is said MTV approached Timberlake about the reunion when it was announced he would be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
For now, no one from Timberlake or MTV’s camps have made comment so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
