The Cannes Film Festival 2012 saw the celebrities and fashion arrive centre stage on day one of tewlve of the world’s most prestigious film festival. Actresses such as Diane Kruger, Tilda Swinton and Eva Longoria sported multiple outfit changes – and that was only day one!
Diane Kruger, who is a member of the festival’s prestigious jury this year, was a highlight on the first day of the festival, wowing onlookers in a burgundy cocktail dress with black cord-laced straps by Versus by Versace for her fist photo call, and donned a floor-length aqua-colored silk dress by Giambattista Valli later for the red-carpet premiere of “Moonrise Kingdom.”
Edward Norton, Ewan McGregor and designer Jean-Paul Gautier were also spotted looking dapper and relaxed on the red carpet. Jean-Paul and Ewan are both members of the jury. The men were trend-setters themselves as Bill Murray put on a plaid jacket, and Ewan McGregor paired his navy cotton suit by Marni with white lace-up shoes and a star-print tie.
Tilda Swinton, who acts in “Moonrise Palace,” wore a two-piece skirt and blouse ensemble by Haider Ackermann at the film’s daytime premiere and wore the designer again at the festival’s opening ceremony that night.
Eva Longoria was a vision in a frilly Marchesa column gown with a flowing train on the red carpet. One of the Rescu. favourites!
Pink was the colour of the day with Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen, model Eva Herzigova and Frieda Pinto in Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Angel respectively.
Girl of the moment, Lana Del Rey attended the festival’s opening wearing a black, strapless Alberta Ferretti gown teamed with her trademark amber locks.
