Described as everything from ‘down-to-earth’ through to ‘other-worldly’, Cate Blanchett plays many roles. From her omnipresence within the creative arts to her role as mother to three growing boys, the 44-year-old Australian manages to balance it all with elegance and ease, continuing to remain on top of her beauty, wellness and style game.

BEAUTY:
As the face of SKII and Giorgio Armani Si Fragrance, Cate Blanchett is well and truly known for her beauty. With alabaster skin and an unparalleled stature, Cate admits she is vastly more confident as she ages, which means that she wears less and less makeup as the years tick over.
The same goes for her skincare. That too remains pared back, Cate has said, noting that she clocks as little time in her bathroom as possible.
Having recently proclaimed that life is too interesting to spend too much time looking in the mirror, the 44-year says that her look each day is based on spontaneity. “It’s got to be how you feel on the day.”
In terms of her morning regime, it’s SKII all the way, but it’s her post-foundation tip that is truly unique, and may be the secret to her ever-incandescent visage. “I put the SKII Facial Treatment Essence in a beautiful spray bottle so then even after I’ve had my makeup done I’ll nip to the bathroom and spray it on the top,” she has said. “You don’t go out feeling powdery or like you’ve caked makeup on.’
WELLBEING:
No fan of making her life revolve around exercise, Cate makes exercise evolve within her life, with the race after her three boys her favourite cardiovascular activity. “They keep me active,” she has said. “We walk a lot and run around a kick the ball and things like that.”
When a bit more refinement is called for, Pilates is her red-carpet prep of choice, but as a general rule, Cate’s focus is not on the energy she exerts, but the wholesomeness she ingests.
The poster-woman of a meat-free, bread-free, organic diet, Cate begins her day with warm water and lemon mix, and a shared sip with her son, she has said. “In the morning I’ve been taking chlorophyll with my son, so that’s been fantastic. Hot water and lemon as well,” kicks start her metabolism.
More regimented detox guidance for Cate comes in the guise of Indian-born Nishi Joshi’s Ayurvedic teachings which proffer the benefits of a dairy, sugar, wheat, alcohol, coffee and starch-free diet – also favoured by Gwyneth Paltrow and Patsy Kensit.
STYLE:
Cate is no shrinking violet when it comes to fashion statements with many of her sartorial choices proving almost architectural in their design and timeless in their tailoring. There is rarely a safety net in her styling choices, with her sporting avant-garde Alexander McQueen one month, and androgynous Armani the next. Givenchy, Dior, Balenciaga and Christopher Kane also make notable appearances within her red carpet repertoire.
‘Off duty Cate’ proves designer-label free, with her regularly being photographed in the ‘universal uniform of the mother’; cargo pants, ballet flats, cotton tops and a floppy sun hat – the latter of which she sports rain, hail or shine.
Cate’s red carpet and real life style certainly shows that you can take the girl out of Australia, but you cant take Australia out of the girl. Ironically enough, in describing the Giorgio Armani woman during an interview, Cate ironically encapsulates her own transatlantic appeal. “She represents the contrasts of a strong and gentle personality – she is both seductive and reserved, spontaneous and refined,” she muses. “A woman that stands out and stays in your memory because of her spirit, gestures and her look.”
