Positive affirmations… Do they really work? Well in my opinion, YES!
Years ago, when I first came across the concept of using affirmations for personal growth, I was intrigued and maybe a little sceptical… But, I was also willing to try them. So I did. I stuck them up everywhere that paper would stick, and I said them whenever I saw them, which was pretty frequently seeing as they were everywhere I looked (extreme I know, but I’m an all or nothing girl!).
I got results! Not immediately, but over the few weeks that I committed to saying them, I saw things change both within me and around me. So, I decided to take the affirmation idea on the road with me, I started to use the concept with clients who were struggling with specific areas of their lives.
One client in particular found excellent results using affirmations around a negative work environment. She felt deeply affected by a colleague, and affirmations gave her a sense of strength and balance. She also felt empowered because she was able to block the feelings of fear and negativity by simply saying her chosen affirmation. Obviously, we also have to work at the situation from a positive place within ourselves, to decide to change the situation, whatever it is, for the better…
Another area where I have seen great results with affirmations is around love. Mostly when we want something in our life that isn’t yet there, we give a lot of our time to the lack of its presence, which means we are thinking constantly about what isn’t there. In this instance, having an affirmation that you can say when those thoughts kick in works wonders, you will also notice that it makes you feel physically better. Test it out, post one on your bathroom mirror, and say it every day for 2 weeks. If you can’t think of what to write, check out an affirmations book.
