Chanel’s grand Sydney outing and Rachael Ruddick’s latest Parisian-inspired accessories launch.

Chanel brought a little slice of Paris to Sydney last week for the launch of its spring/summer 2011 collection. In a mini-version of the Grand Palais presentation from October, complete with black and white decorative floors and green lattice walls, models sauntered out in Karl Lagerfeld’s springtime vision for the label. The classic tweeds were updated in hotpants and jackets, and feather-trimmed dresses. The accessories were utterly covetable—angle-zipped biker boots (also in tweed if you like), embellished Perspex cuffs, and crystal-lined gloves, or fingerless versions in metal mesh. Get a grip
Speaking of accessories (and Paris), Sydney designer Rachael Ruddick has just launched her new Parisian-inspired collection, called The High Life. Ruddick has incorporated urban and architectural references into her latest pieces, including the studded Pochette and Govett Tote, citing Avenue Montaigne and even Kaiser Karl’s apartment as design influences. Colours include caramel and tan, and hot seasonal trends of shearling, bottle green (in water snake) and leopard print ponyskin. See rachaelruddick.com to buy online.
