Despite the horrific nature of the crimes he committed, ‘Chopper’ Read has become somewhat of a celebrity. Between books, a hugely successful feature film, and stage shows, our nation has developed an almost sick obsession with the man and the monstrous crimes he committed.
A little over a fortnight before his death, Tara Brown of Channel 9’s Sixty Minutes sat down with Mark Brandon Read for his last ever interview during which Read confessed to murdering four men, explaining the killings in graphic detail and showing no signs of remorse.
