Fancy winning a trip to Los Angeles, a 12-month modeling contract with SCOOP Model Management, cash prizes, hair and make-up products from Well and NP Set, and best of all, the chance to be mentored by Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks? Specsavers Australia is giving you the chance with their 2012 Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
Stepping into the competition’s launch event at The Star’s Sokyo, guests were invited to choose from a pair of frames to wear for the evening. The bespectacled media crowd mingled and posed in the photo studio, while a general feeling of anticipation filled the room. Christina Hendricks of the wildly successful show “Mad Men” was due to arrive any minute.
The ambassador of the 2012 Spectacle Wearer of the Year, the nationwide search to find and crown Australia’s best-framed fashionista, stylish Hendricks who often pairs glasses with a red carpet ensemble, was a natural choice. In addition to judging the competition, Hendricks will also act as a mentor to the winner at a Los Angeles photo shoot.
The launch event officially kicked off the competition. With the flurry of camera snaps and commotion outside, all eyes turned to the door. Hendricks had arrived. After posing on the red carpet, she joined the function and spoke to guests about her excitement of being in the country, love for Australian fashion designers (particularly Johanna Johnson, whose design she wore to the Emmys), and pride in taking part of the Specsavers search.
After the short stage interview, Hendricks took the time to chat and pose for photos with guests. Destroying all A-list celebrity stereotypes, Hendricks was down-to-earth and engaging, speaking with ease about her plan to return to Australia for a longer visit with her husband. Glasses-wearing (for both prescription and fashion reasons) men and women aged 18 and over have until Friday, January 25, 2013 to enter the competition online at www.facebook.com/SpecsaversAustralia.
