Cory Monteith Cause of Death Revealed
The British Columbia Coroners Service has confirmed that an autopsy and toxicology tests have shown Glee star Cory Monteith died from “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.”
Canadian authorities released a statement on the back of the reports saying, “At this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr Monteith’s death was anything other than a most-tragic accident.” Continuing, “Mr Monteith’s family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.”
The 31-year-old star, who was best known for his role as Finn in TV series Glee, has been struggling with addiction for years and entered rehab in April this year after a relapse. Since that time, he has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings but has continued to struggle with addition.
TMZ has reported that Monteith’s family were aware he had relapsed and had tried to help in vein. Lea Michele, his co-star and girlfriend, had been a support for the struggling actor and the pair were reportedly planning to move in together. Michele is has issued a statement via her representatives saying, “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.”
Forbes’ Highest-Paid Actors List Revealed
Each year Forbes releases a list of the highest-paid actors. Along with those we expect to see year in year out, there are always a few wild cards and newcomers that catch our eye.
This year, Robert Downey Jr took the top spot, banking a cool $75 million last in the financial year that just finished. This profitable year was due to his headlining two massive franchises – Iron Man and Avengers. Not bad for a guy whose drug problems and run-ins with the authorities once saw him missing out on roles left, right and centre!
As much as we love him, second place came as a little bit of a shock, going to Channing Tatum who generated $60 million in the one year period thanks in large part to the box office success that was Magic Mike which he both starred in, financed and produced with the helping hand of director Steven Soderbergh.
Cue the Aussie pride – third in place went to Hugh Jackman who, like first placer Downey Jr, has a couple of major franchises to thank for his success. Both X-Men and Wolverine have help earn him the $55 million he amassed over the year. Oh and Best Actor Oscar nomination – earning role in Les Miserablés couldn’t have hurt either!
Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson rounded out the top five.
Lindsay Lohan’s $2 Million Deal
Lindsay Lohan’s troubled life has become something of a spectator sport but over the past couple of months things have been a little quieter…
The 27-year-old star was ordered to rehab as part of a plea deal stemming from charges in 2012. Since May, she has been spending time in a rehab facility and participating in a 90-day court-ordered treatment program for her drug and alcohol related issues.
Now, the star is banking on her recovery process and is said to be set to receive a sum of $2 million to participate in a sit-down interview special with Oprah on OWN, which will be followed by an eight-episode ‘docu-series’ on her life.
And while we would imagine any mother would object to this and want their daughter to get back on track privately – Dina Lohan has proved yet again that she isn’t any mother. The stage-mum told E! News, the collaboration was “fantastic” and that, “If anyone is going to help mentor you, it’s going to be Oprah.”
We have to say this doesn’t sound like a good move for Lindsay but it would be hard to turn that sort of money down. Let’s hope Oprah does right by the star!
