Hugh Jackman has been offered big money to continue playing Wolverine, images are released from Cory Monteith’s final film and Gwyneth Paltrow treads on toes in East Hampton.
Cory Monteith’s Last Role
Disturbing images have been released of Cory Monteith’s last film role- in which he fortuitously plays a drug addict.
McCanick features the former Glee star as a drug-addicted criminal, in a chilling parallel to his own addictions which finally led to his death.
Prior to his passing, the film’s director Josh C. Waller spoke out about Cory’s role in the film saying,”the character he plays is this drug-addicted street hustler, and he was wanting to tap into things from his youth – which he’s been very open about publicly. I think he saw the role as an opportunity for catharsis,”
The film, which was Cory’s first major feature, will debut at the Toronto film festival.
Waller says he was initially hesitant about casting Cory in the film, but changed his mind when he came in for an audition, “the second that we started shooting, any concerns that I had were gone. Immediately gone.”
Also premiering at Toronto film festival will be All The Wrong Reasons– the other of Cory’s final films.
Cory was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room in July, caused by a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol.
Hugh Jackman Offered $100 Million to Continue as Wolverine
After placing third in the Forbes rich list, Aussie star Hugh Jackman has been offered $100 million by Fox to play Wolverine in four more films.
For us mere mortals, that amount of money would equate to an almost instant ‘Yes’ to doing pretty much anything!
But apparently Hugh is considering rejecting the offer, because of wife Deborah-Lee Furness’s wishes that they each only sign onto one film at a time (or maybe she just isn’t a fan of those sideburns!).
Hugh is well known for being a devoted husband and father, so it wouldn’t surprise us if he chose his family over his career- and let’s be honest, that’s not exactly the type of behaviour that is going to lose him fans!
It has not yet been established if the offer is for Hugh to star in four more standalone Wolverine films- both of which have have been resounding successes, or just to replay the character in future X-Men films. Wolverine is the only character in the franchise to have his own films.
We wouldn’t say no to getting to see our golden boy recast as Logan/Wolverine a few more times- or $100 million for that matter!
Gwyneth Paltrow Treads on Toes
Authors at East Hampton Library’s ‘Authors Night’ were unimpressed by the appearance of film star and goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow at a book signing, complaining that her bodyguards and mere presence hijacked the event.
Gwyneth was at the event to promote her new ultra-healthy cookbook It’s All Good, and reportedly blocked access for other authors with the crowds of people waiting for a glimpse.
She also dragged along husband Chris Martin and children Apple and Moses, further adding to the mob of people in her vicinity.
Author Christine Oxenberg spoke out about the inconvenience in The New York Post saying, “due to the inflexibility of the alphabet, I had the questionable good fortune to be seated directly beside [Paltrow].”
Oxenberg then went on to complain about the line that formed in front of her table waiting for Gwyneth, blocking her view “of the rest of the world.”
In what appears to be an attempt to punish Gwyneth for her popularity, Oxenberg bought meaty, greasy burgers and sandwiches to waft under the vegan Paltrow’s nose, “there I sat with my meat products, wafting the excellent smells toward my sleek vegan neighbour” she bragged.
It appears that fellow author Jay McInerney was also less than impressed, tweeting “Authors Night at East Hampton Library hijacked by movie stars with ghost-written cookbooks.” Ouch!
We’re not so sure if this is a case of Gwyneth being a diva, or just some very jealous authors intimidated by her star power!
