Prince Harry’s girlfriend and this week’s Australian Women’s Weekly cover girl Cressida Bonas is making headlines all over the world over the sudden death of her former Stepfather Christopher Shaw.
The 76-year-old, a former banker, was discovered dead by his housekeeper just after 2.30pm on the 17th of January (UK time) in his home in The Close near Salisbury Cathedral, but the sad news was only confirmed this week.
Although Shaw was only Stepfather to Cressida from the ages of 7 to 10, the connection has seen Cressida’s name emblazoned across the biggest news sources in the world with sources claiming the princess-in-waiting is in shock over the death.
While we have no doubt Cressida is saddened by the death of someone who sources say remained somewhat of a father figure throughout her life, the excessive coverage of the tragedy screams ‘star-on-the-rise’ for Cressida, who once spent a year living and working in Australia.
Shaw married Cressida’s mother, Lady Mary Gaye Curzon, in 1996 and the pair were together until the year 2000 when he left Bonas’ mother for the 40-year-old daughter of a former aide-de-camp of the Duke of Windsor, Eliza Dugdale.
The financier had been suffering from long-term health problems and had been taking medication for chronic kidney disease and was reportedly told he had just 18 months to live. Police allegedly confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that a coroner’s report was being prepared.
