Cyndi Lauper Set to Star in Her Own Reality Show and Find Out Adam Levine's First Thoughts on Releasing a Fragrance

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Pinterest

80s Pop Icon, Cyndi Lauper is set to star in her own reality show while Adam Levine of Maroon 5 reveals he first thought the idea of releasing a fragrance was cringeworthy!

Iconic ’80s pop star Cyndi Lauper is getting her own reality TV series.

The 58-year-old Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and gay rights activist, will show fans her true colours in a 12-episode half-hour “docu-soap” with the simple working title Cyndi, as announced by WE tv.

The show will be an “all-access journey into the personal and professional life of one of pop culture’s most beloved and influential icons as she juggles her roles as rock star, mother, wife, Broadway composer, and philanthropist,” according to WE.

Lauper will serve as executive producer alongside reality TV king Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor). Get an insider look at her 20-year marriage to David Thornton (My Sister’s Keeper), and meet her 13-year-old son Declyn!

Cyndi starts filming in New York in April.

Adam Levine “cringed” when he was offered the chance to release a fragrance. The 33-year-old Maroon 5 singer – who has previously expressed his distaste for celebrity scents – admits he wasn’t keen until curiosity got the better of him.

He said, “I’m not going to lie, I cringed the first time I heard. But at the end of the day, I thought that it was a cop-out to say, ‘Oh, that’s lame. I don’t want to do that’. I love fashion; there are a lot of things I’d like to express creatively in the world. I like to think that I have decent taste, so why not try it and do a good version?”

But he insisted on remaining in control of the 222 perfumes throughout the design stages. He explained, “I’ve seen cool, sexy, inspiring things in fragrances. If I’m emulating those things, then I love it. If I’m not putting any effort into it, if I’m cashing in and just letting it go and having nothing to do with the creative process, I’m not interested.”

However, ‘The Voice’ mentor admits there was some financial motivation behind his latest venture. He told WWD, “People do this to make money, I’m not going to lie to you. Obviously, there’s a financial part to this as well. But there are other things that come into play, too, and I’m not just going to sign off on something if I don’t love it. I want to tailor it to me as much as humanly possible.”

But the ‘Moves Like Jagger’ hitmaker has no plans to branch out into the world of fashion just yet as he wants to focus his attention on his current projects. He added, “I don’t really feel the need to do a clothing line as long as Tom Ford exists, because I can just wear his clothes. “I don’t want to spread myself too thin – I’m already in danger of that. I’m trying to just focus on the things I can really do my best. You start multitasking too much, and the quality of what you’re doing starts to diminish.”
