Some things just go together. Romeo and Juliet, Batman and Robin, Bogie and Bacall and let’s not forget Versace and sex appeal. This very Versace type of sex appeal includes slashed fabrics, thigh-high splits, exposed zippers and plenty of bare skin.
However, rather than the usual Versace Italian Goddess look, the look for A/W 2010 was Motorcycle Minx…
Motorcycle Minx at Versace
Sizzling mini dresses and skirts with futuristic panels of either heavy metal or neon patent leather were juxtaposed with skin tight pant suits. On these suits, contrasting leather inserts stood out from the stretch fabrics also used.
In typical Versace style models stomped down the catwalk in chunky sky-high shoes.
Luck Lady at Emporio Armani 
The mistress was taken care of at Versace and the wife taken care of at Giorgio Armani, there is still the young fiancé to clothe. She is flirty and fresh, but still has an uptown air about her and likes to match her pearls with her mini skirt. That is where Emporio Armani comes in. Young, sporty but still uber luxe.
For A/W 2010, the Emporio Armani woman will be covering herself in fur; wearing shrunken fur jackets with short skirts, trousers and dresses, both day and evening.
For evening, she also has a range of draped skirts and 50s style cocktail dresses with ruffled hems to choose from.
For day, there are no nonsense trousers and tailored jackets with defined waists and structured shoulders that are the perfect attire for brunch with her mother- in -law to be.
The unusual combining of different fabrics set this collection apart and created texture, interest and a luxurious feel. Rich velvets were combined with organza and fur was mixed with leather in a way that looked as though these fabrics were made to be worn together.
Managerial minimalism at Jil Sander
The Jil Sander woman means business. She appreciates the dark and moody fabrics in black, grey, plum and tartan patterns and the slick and tailored designs that make up the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.
Whilst the necklines of this collection were high, the tailoring was masculine and clothes were worn with heavy workman’s boots, there was still an element of feminine sex appeal created by raising the hemlines and using sheer woollen fabrics.
Whilst the show comprised of mainly skirts, suits and skinny pants, there were also cheeky all-in-one playsuits and jumpsuits for when this serious modern woman is off duty.
