The day began in black and white at Karl Lagerfeld. Whose collection in short, was all about shorts. Paired with jackets, shirts, vests and ruffles, Lagerfeld dressed them up and down, and gave them life from day to night.
Karl Lagerfeld:
All-in-one playsuits with deep-pleated shorts were also a creative twist, especially when shown in red leather. However, it was the final outfits that stole the show; a series of striking garments traced in metal trimmings.
Ungaro:
From Lagerfeld to Ungaro we went, with crossed fingers and hopes to be dazzled by the brand’s new creative team, Spanish designer Estrella Archs and actress Lindsay Lohan.
Whilst the show opened with Ungaro’s signature fuchsia, little evidence of the house’s style resonated in the rest of the collection.
From the crazy colour combinations, to the sequined heart-shaped pasties, the unflattering harem pants and the skimpy hemlines – someone should have warned us not to hold our breath…
Givenchy:
Spirits were restored later in the day at Givenchy. Inspired by Roman couture, Grecian draping and digital prints, designer Riccardo Tisci sent out an eclectic mix of graphic black and white jackets, dramatic drop-crotch harem pants, and pretty tulle dresses.
Print also prevailed; zigzags, stripes and geometrics covered the collection, from jackets to leggings, shoes and bags.
Sonia Rykiel:
The day ended on a high with an upbeat show at Sonia Rykiel. Watching the quirky, playful and vibrant garments shimmy down the runway, we couldn’t help but smile.
Whilst the quilted satin looks might not please all taste buds, the candy coloured striped sweaters, floral print dresses, black suits and that raincoat more than compensate.
