The Melbourne Cup Carnival kicked off to a great start today with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Brian McFadden, Sophie Monk and many more celebrity guests in attendance for Derby Day.

Australian beauty Nicole Kidman was the star of the day looking stunning in a L’Wren Scott elegant white lace dress and Stephen Jones hat.
The starlet, who has been filming in France this week for her new role as Grace Kelly in the film Grace of Monaco, flew in especially for the occasion as a guest of Swisse Vitamins.
Rescu. Editor Bahar Etminan celebrated the day in style wearing Alex Perry teamed with a Suzy O’Rourke hat as she caught up with renowned Italian fashion legend Roberto Cavalli who launched his Target collection earlier this week.

Myer ambassadors, Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith, and Myer Racing Ambassador, Rebecca Judd were all celebrating the day in the Myer Marquee which was stunningly Springtime decorated with beautiful bleached woods, oak floors, limed walls and zingy yellow furnishings.

As for the winner of the main Derby Day 3pm race, Jockey Damien Oliver stole the victory on the Anthony Cummings trained horse Fiveandahalfstar.
Celebrities in attendance included Michelle Bridges, Danielle Spencer, Radio duo Hamish and Andy, Brian McFadden, Jesinta Campbell, 7pm regular Dr Chris Brown, Ronan Keating, Nathalie Bassingthwaighte , Lara Bingle and Sophie Monk.

But the famous fashionistas weren’t the only ones to flock to the track. There was a massive public turnout according to a spokesperson from Metro, who claimed more than 34,000 patrons had arrived to Flemington by train come midday.
And it seems anticipation is also building for the 50th year of the Myer Fashions on the Field competition – for both men and women – with more than 169 registrations for the Women’s Racewear competition lodged at the track today in just the morning alone.
