Silky polyester tank tops reminiscent of plastic bags emblazoned with images and slogans were the first pieces down the runway at Jeremy Scott’s edgy Spring 2011 show. What followed was a series of latex dresses, knits and unique prints.
Scott’s distinct style called for something dramatic in the beauty department and MAC make-up artist Val Garland certainly delivered. Garland said she wanted to create, “a collage of chaos – Marilyn Monroe meets Debbie Harry at CBGB’s.”
A perfected base was created to start using Studio Sculpt Foundation and a sepia cream colour base to contour and sculpt the cheekbones.
Deep eyes were created with a white base, brown liner and a extended, winged out shape along the upper lash line created with MAC Pro Black Creamliner. MAC Pro Lash Black was blended through sets of fake lashes with emphasis on the outer corners. The brows were blocked out to create the illusion of a highlighted brow bone, MAC creamliner was then used to draw above the blocked out brows to created defined, arched brows.
The lips were a perfect matte red. Garland chose a Cherry Lip Pencil to line the lips past the outer corners of the mouth, creating an exaggerated, cartoon-like shape. MAC Pro Basic Red Micronized Airbrush was painted on to fill the lips and topped off with a red pigment to create a super matte drawn on effect.
