We all love Luke Mangan’s recipes and foodie tips, but you don’t know the celebrity restauranteur’s true talent until you’ve tried his dishes. If you want to experience Luke Mangan’s expertise first hand we recommend this line up of unique and indulgent events at his exceptional glass wine bar at the Sydney Hilton.
With distinctive wine, spirit and cocktail menus, views of the iconic Queen Victoria Building and of course Mangan’s own edible enchantments, the glass wine bar is the ideal way to fulfill your foodie fantasies.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth then have we got a culinary wonder for you. Luke Mangan’s Dessert Degustation is in its second year at glass and features a delicious menu made up entirely of sweet treats. From honey and lavender semi-freddo with apple and basil jelly, raspberry and lemon macarons to milk chocolate and hazlenut panna cotta with candied blood orange, the degustation is a line up of delicate and full flavours that will expose you to dessert as you’ve never seen it before.
When wanting to impress a group of foodies, every hostess knows to drop the word ‘truffle’ into her menu. Truffles have long been the creme-de-la-creme of boutique ingredients with their strong-smelling flavour adding depth to many of our favourite dishes. The Truffle and Vine Degustation offers insight into the mysterious world of truffles including the harvesting process, origins and history of the popular fungus. Presented by glass in conjunction with Lowes Mount Truffiere (one of the first truffieres to be established in NSW) the event features a five-course degustation with expertly matched wines. Dishes include truffle baked bree in puff pastry and crab and truffle congee with hand-picked crab salad. Ooh la la!
For something a little more european, Mangan and his team are whisking guests away with the flavours of France with the Salute, Jour de Bastille Degustation on Bastille Day, July 14th. The menu combines traditional and modern french cooking techniques so that diners can experience french food at its very best. With french favourites such as an amuse of seafood broth and steak tartare taking pride of place on the menu the dishes promise to be delicieux!
