Unless you’re lucky enough to be a local, it’s time to start planning a trip to Brisbane, ladies.
From August 7 until November 14, 2010, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Brisbane will be hosting a major retrospective exhibition of the house of Valentino. The Rescu. crew are practically squealing with excitement over this announcement!
With selected pieces from the first collection designed in 1959 by the house’s founder, Valentino Garavani, through to workfrom the Autumn/Winter 2009-10 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, this is bound to be an incredible show.
Included in the exhibition are garments worn by Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor and the extraordinary black and white dress Julia Roberts donned for the 2001 Academy Awards. Alongside these famous gowns opulent classics such as the 1968 ‘White Collection’ and a selection of ‘Valentino Red’ dresses
will be on show.
Don’t forget to get into the gift shop on the way out because a hardcover exhibition catalogue celebrating Valentino Garavani’s 49 year long career will be available for purchase and is an absolute must-have for any fashion lovers bookshelf.
Due to our remote location and exorbitant costs of shipping precious goods, Australia doesn’t often get the privilege of such events, so it is a must that all you fashionistas get to GoMA and soak up this display of exquisite design before it’s too late.
GoMA is located on Stanley Place, South Bank, Queensland.
