The Mars Rover has landed – and fashion has gone Curiosity-mad. Let Rescu. show you the Mars-inspired trends of the moment.
It may seem like an odd inspiration, but we’re witnessing a moment in history – the landing of 10-tonne exploratory vehicle Curiosity on Mars – and it just so happens that high-tech materials and Mars-dust tones are bang on trend.
So here are our favourite ways to celebrate the Mars Rover landing in your look. Go on, get space-age.
Star-print and sky-inspired prints are at a pinnacle- now is the time to grab yourself a piece spangled with the night sky. ASOS is selling cute summer dresses with spangled cartoon stars, or opt for what’s called a ‘galaxy print’ – a real-time photograph of the swirling clouds of space.
The big proponent of galaxy print? Christopher Kane, whose 2012 collection offered short and long dresses covered in the sky – though Rescu. also loves the more affordable version, the Te Amo Pink Galaxy Print Dress, at Next UK online.
This is also the season for burnt-umber, deep-orange Mars tones. Everybody from Michael Kors to Chloe has a piece featuring the strong reds of the Mars skyline. Pair it with whites or shades of tan for a space-age pop.
As for shoes, now is the time for the big boots. Look for silver, with big straps, chunky soles, white detailing – or simply some shine.
We’re loving glossy silver and gold combat boots – Raf Simons for Doc Marten’s line of glossy, gorgeous boots back in 2009 are set to make a massive comeback.
Accessorise with the latest Mars Rover feeds and you’re all set for science chic.
