This week’s fashion update: Delta Goodrem brings Alex Perry’s designs to new heights at Virgin Blue’s aviation-themed birthday party, while Armani Exchange announces a date for the opening of its first flagship store at Westfield Sydney.
Delta Goodrem rocks for Virgin Blue in Alex Perry couture
Virgin Blue and Sir Richard Branson organised a no-costs spared extravaganza to celebrate its landmark tenth anniversary at Melbourne Airport. The highlight of the show was one of Australia’s highest-selling female artists of all time, Delta Goodrem.
Delta delivered a style-packed performance, playing barefoot on the wing of a Boeing 737 dressed in a custom-made white silk organza and grey tulle couture Alex Perry gown and jewellery by Cerrone. Alex Perry had specially designed the piece for Delta and Virgin Blue for the anniversary celebration.
Delta then sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in a black Alex Perry evening gown that offered a sneak peek of his upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The gown was adorned with a Sass & Bide collar embellished with feather edging.

The store design features Armani’s signature sophistication, bold contrasts between dark and light, smooth and rough, to generate a sense of fluidity that is reflective of the constantly changing and varied urban landscape.
The epitome of modern fashion-conscious urban dwellers, the store will carry a mixture of casual and sportswear, leather accessories, watches, eyewear, jewellery and music to create a contemporary, interactive shopping and entertainment experience.
